Several weeks of being flat out crazy from work I needed a break. After a bit of hunting for a campsite I secured one at Fisheating Creek Outpost in Palmdale, Florida. The campground had been in my sights for a while and since it was midweek, I booked a spot for two nights. We packed up the Roge Mahal and headed northeast.

I have always been enchanted by the flower called “The Bird of Paradise”. it’s what most people think of as a tropical flower if they don’t think of the other popular flower, the Hibiscus. Growing up I had only seen these flowers in table arrangements.
On the second day of our most recent adventure we had a light breakfast at Tarpon Lodge and walked up the street to board the Tropic Star, the ferry to Cayo Costa State Park. The boat was originally built by a ship works in Mississippi as one of three boats to be put into service at Disney World.
Back in October we attended a charity auction at The Alliance for the Arts in Ft Myers, Florida. One of our bids successfully purchased a two night getaway at the Tarpon Lodge in Pineland, Florida. This last week we thought it would be a fun way to celebrate my recent birthday so I made a reservation and off we went.
Every year the Naples Botanical Garden has had their “Johnsonville Night Lights in The Garden” event. I had not attended for many years as it had always quickly sold out. I almost didn’t go this year but after a friend showed me a picture she had taken that was full of color and vibrancy, I managed to get a last minute opening on New Year’s Day.
